Demand Justice Department Investigate Clarence Thomas
Common Cause has found that Clarence Thomas failed to disclose income his wife earned from the two conservative think tanks: Heritage Foundation and Liberty Central on judicial disclosure documents. Instead, Thomas checked "none" next to a question asking about spouse's non-investment income
If this income source had been disclosed before the Citizen's United case was heard before the Supreme Court, Thomas would have likely had to recuse himself.
This petition demands that the Justice Department investigate Thomas' failure to disclose his wife's earnings.
We the undersigned hereby demand that the Justice Department investigate allegations which state that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas failed to disclose income his wife earned from conservative think-tank organizations Heritage Foundation and Liberty Central
We also find that the income sources that Justice Thomas failed to disclose would likely have obligated Thomas to recuse himself from the landmark Citizen's United case. Because of the impact of the Citizen's United ruling on the American electoral process, we believe Thomas' nondisclosure to be an especially egregious offense against the office of Supreme COurt Justice.
