We, the undersigned, wish to alert citizens and all relevant authorities and wildlife caretakers to the disappearance of a young female orangutan, Luna, from the Sintang Orangutan Center in Sintang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia on April 6th, 2011. This center is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned and/or ex-captive orangutans. If anyone has any information regarding Luna's situation and/or her current whereabouts, they are urged to please contact Orangutan Outreach. Anonymous tips are welcome.
DESCRIPTION:
Luna is an approximately 2-year-old female orangutan standing at around 2 feet (60cm) tall and weighing approximately 20lbs (10kg). She has bright orange hair that sticks up on top of her head and a very distinctive face with a protruding snout. She has skinny little legs and very fine, long slender fingers. She does not enjoy being alone. When alone, she crawls up into a ball, face down on the ground and squeals in a very high pitch. Luna does not like strangers and will swat at them.
