The 2007 lion hunting ban in Botswana should be made permanent because every individual lion really matters. For example, male lions are in their reproductive prime from 5 to 10 years of age, and according to the book Lion Hearted by lion researcher Dr. Andrew Loveridge, male lions are able to breed until they are 11 or 12 years old.
