Tell Congress to Reopen Our National Parks!

Thanks to Republicans in the House of Representatives, America's national parks and monuments are closed -- disappointing as many as 750,000 visitors a day and costing local communities upwards of $76 million a day.

When the clock struck midnight on October 1, the federal government officially ran out of money. House Republicans refused to pass routine legislation to fund the government without including toxic political riders. As a result, they failed to fulfill the most basic aspect of their job: keeping the government open.

So on Yosemite National Park's 123rd birthday, America's parks, forests, and monuments were closed and hundreds of thousands of excited visitors were out of luck.

The shutdown hasn't just shut the gates to our public lands, but shuttered the EPA and sent hundreds of thousands of Americans home instead of work.

Now, some in Congress are pushing a piecemeal approach, playing political games with our parks and forests. That's now how this works! To open and protect our parks, we must fully fund our government. If we don't, its like opening a beach without a lifeguard on duty.

Tell your member of Congress: enough already! Urge them to end the shutdown, fully fund the government and open our parks, forests, and monuments for all Americans to enjoy.
