Protect the Columbia River from Dirty, Dangerous Coal!

Coal exports pose serious risks to the health of communities and the environment from start to finish. Coal burned anywhere contributes to dangerous climate disruption.
Ambre Energy wants to ship 8.8 million tons of coal from Montana and Wyoming by rail to the Port of Morrow, then transfer this coal to barges and send them down the Columbia River, through the Gorge past Portland, and on to Asia -- threatening the Columbia River and communities all along the way.
We have until the end of the month to tell the Oregon Department of State Lands that they must deny the permit for this Columbia River coal export terminal.

RE: DSL permit No. APP0049123; Army Corps permit No. NWP-2012-56
Dear [Decision Maker],
I am opposed to Ambre Energy's Morrow Pacific coal export project which would send 8.8 million tons of coal by rail from Montana and Wyoming to Boardman, Oregon, and by barge down the Columbia River and on to Asia. This coal export project is dirty and dangerous and poses serious risks to communities and the environment from start to finish.
I urge Oregon DSL to deny Ambre's removal-fill permit because coal export is not consistent with the protection, conservation and best use of our state's water resources. Ambre's coal export operation will adversely impact the Columbia River and protected fish, while interfering with navigation, fishing, and public recreation.
I also urge the Army Corps to perform a full Environmental Impact Statement, as well as an area-wide EIS that looks to the combined impacts of multiple coal export projects. The Oregon DSL should not grant permits to any coal export proposal until the Corps conducts these EIS's.
