Don't let this Republican senator singlehandedly block critically important military appointments

"For the first time in over a century, the U.S. Marine Corps will not have a permanent leader." And that is just one of hundreds of critically important defense positions left unfilled because GOP Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has put a "hold" on them -- an arcane and asinine Senate tradition that allows just one senator to block approval.

Tuberville is doing this to score points with anti-abortion extremists, who object to the military covering travel expenses for service members based in states that outlaw abortion, and who need to go elsewhere for the procedure.

Tuberville is putting our nation at risk and degrading our defense because he wants to appease these extremists. We can't let this continue. He needs to end his "hold", or the Senate needs to end this ridiculous tradition, and move ahead in spite of his objection.
