Reject Shells Permit to Drill in the Arctic

Recently, the EPA granted Shell a drilling permit to look for oil in the Arctic, approving the first major offshore oil drilling operation in the fragile Arctic ecosystem. Now, Shell has admitted it won’t be able to meet the air pollution rules the company had agreed to, giving the EPA the option to cancel Shell’s permit. Urge the EPA to prevent Shell from contaminating the Arctic by rejecting its permit.

Only weeks away from starting offshore oil drilling, Shell has begun to make excuses so the EPA will weaken important safety standards. It is clear that Shell cannot be trusted to prioritize the environment. Shell has a long list of broken promises. The Obama Administration must realize that allowing Shell to drill in a place as delicate as the Arctic is without doubt a recipe for disaster.
