RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS (RPMS) ON ALL BC HIGHWAYS AND ROADS

The weather conditions in British Columbia, especially the lower coastal areas, coupled with our long winter nights make driving on roads challenging and hazardous when the lines are not clearly visible.  The lines on the roads, while painted in reflective paint, are often obscured by heavy rain and wear & tear.  In the few areas where RPMs are used, the difference is immense and the stress of trying to determine where on the road you need to be is eliminated.  The worst place at the moment is Hwy 1.  It is a hazard and extremely dangerous travelling at high speeds in the dark and rain when you have no idea where on the road you need to be.  It is time this need was addressed.

Hi there,

I am finding it increasingly stressful to drive at night, in the rain, on BC roads.  The inability to clearly see the lines on the road is dangerous and has been the cause of several near miss sideswipes in the past few weeks as I travel Highway #1. This threat to safety could be completely eliminated with the installation of Raised Pavement Markers (RPMs), commonly known as 'cat eyes'.  It is time to let the BC Ministry of Transportation know that we need these markers.  They are not a luxury; they are a necessity on the rainy, dark roads of British Columbia.

Please sign this petition and pass it along to everyone you know who travells BC roads.  Our lives may depend on it.

Thank you!
