Do you know that any database website can obtain your private information from any outside source and provide it to the general public with no form of identification or reasons, significant and valid reasons, why they should be allowed to have it for a mere $.99? That's if they sign up for a "FREE TRIAL PERIOD". During that free trial period, the member can run as many background, criminal history, address histories, reverse phone look ups, etc. as they want for any person in the US. Given this more than easily accessible information, it makes identity theft more and more easy. It makes slander and defamation of character easier to post on Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist, only to name a few, by someone that may think they are helping the general public to be aware of another persons history for no valid reason. California state law requires a signed waiver by any person who is having a credit check done for reasons of driving information and credit with a firm that does business requiring the verification of that information. But what about all the other private information being obtained by these outside sources who don't seem to fit into that catagory? There is no waiver to protect the citizens in this country against malicious violations of people's right to privacy! Sign this petition and bring awareness to the President that this must change and to force Congress and the Senate to review and rewrite the privacy laws to include any and all information from being made public for profit. The only thing the general public should have access to is registered sex offenders. Arrest records and criminal trials as well as all private information such as phone numbers, addresses, names of employers, married and maiden names, etc.should not be information provided to the general public. This is the most extreme of invasion of privacy ever in the history of this country.
