Demand for Improved Mental Health Resources at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Throughout recent years and especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, growing attention has been drawn to the University of Illinois as they have failed to prioritize the mental health of their students. This petition is a demand for increased funding within the University's mental health resources. We demand that UIUC increases funding to be able to 1) hire more staff promoting greater cultural diversity 2) create an online platform to be able to schedule appointments in advance and indicate counselor preferences 3) increase the limit on counseling sessions that are available daily/per student 4) create greater awareness over counseling center offerings and 5) create a mental health task force with students (similar to the SHIELD team created immediately after COVID-19 began)
