It is quite an honor to be nominated into the Hall of Fame as a recognition for righteous deeds but it is disturbing when someone undeserving is chosen. Such recognition should only be available to those who truly earn such an honor.
A thoroughbred horse trainer by the name of Steve Asmussen was nominated in the Hall of Fame, again, after it was determined through investigation and documentation that he mistreated his horses in order to enhance their performance. Please read further information at http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/urge-horse-racing-hall-fame-withdraw-nomination-trainer/?utm_campaign=031816%20PETA%20E-News&utm_source=PETA%20E-Mail&utm_medium=E-News. This trainer allegedly gave his horses medication that would make them run better/faster while masking their real injuries. His name was withdrawn from the Hall of Fame nomination while the original investigation was underway between 2014 and 2015 but has now been re-nominated despite his history in the treatment of the horses.
Through these PETA state and federal investigations, it is advisable that the horses be protected against such possible abuse, stating that Asmussen is in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which should void his nomination into the Hall of Fame. The effort in this petition is to ensure that Steve Asmussen’s name be withdrawn from the Hall of Fame nominations permanently and anyone such as this man in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act never be allowed in such an honored position. You can help me with this action by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments. Nominating him or anyone who treats animals as he did is stating that it is okay to abuse them and then be honored for it which is sad.
