The Eagle River Parks and Rec department is seriously considering building a skatepark at Loretta French Park in Chugiak. Let's show them how interested we are!
Skate parks provide kids with a healthy and safe venue to participate and be spectators of roller sports (skateboarding, scootering, roller blading & BMX biking). Kids get great exercise and have positive opportunities for socializing with friends. Chugiak is one of the only mid-size communities in Alaska that does not have a skate park. Other communities have recognized the inherent benefit to the community, economy, neighborhoods, families and our youth, such as Wasilla, Bethel, Skagway, Sitka, Ketchikan, Girdwood, Seward, Homer and others.

The skatepark has been approved! The ER Parks and Rec have hired a design firm to create a design. The design and/or options should be ready and revealed at the next ER Parks and Rec meeting on April 14th. The users may get to weigh in on the design options or bring up concerns or ideas.
They are planning on it being complete by mid August!
Thanks to everyone that signed the petition. They were very impressed and happy so many folks showed up last night.

The Eagle River Parks and Rec are meeting Monday night, March 10th, at 7:00 PM at 12001 Business Blvd, Suite 123, Eagle River. It is in the far end of the Alaska Club building.
They will be discussing the Skate Park. They've asked supporters to show up to counter any opposition. They've also asked users (the kids) to come as they may be able to weigh in on the design.
Please attend if you can. It would be great if we could show a lot of support.
