Shechita is the most horrible way to slaughter an animal. The animal will be fixed to a structure by chains or hanged by the hindlegs. The throad will be slashed open up to a dozen times, since the outrushing blood coagulates rapidly. The half cut off head will be pulled back by force. In full recognition the animal will finally slowly die by loss of blood and suffocation. The function of the brain will be in order to the last second. Death takes up to 15 minutes. Accompanied by unbearable anguish and deadly fright.
The undersigned know themselves in line with the overhelming majority of the populations in their demand to prohibit slaughter of animals to the benefit of religious rituals. All the more so, since even Turkey prohibits, with the consent of the Religious Authorities, torture of animals by the end of this year.
We strongly demand the prohibition of the tolerance of medieval torture to a horrible death in the European Community and the USA.
