AS YOU MAY HAVE HEARD... THE MAYOR & COMMON COUNCIL OF OUR CITY HAS DE-FUNDED (CUT) 9 Firefighter Positions and 12 Police Officers from your Public Safety.
THE SAFETY THAT YOU PAY TAXES FOR AS A RESIDENT OF
WHITE PLAINS!
What would you do if your house was on fire, your family trapped inside
and 9-1-1 says its going to be a while for help to arrive?
Mere seconds can make the difference between life and death and Mayor Adam Bradleys plan could make this a reality.
Response times depend on having an adequate number of fire fighters responding to your emergencies. Fire fighter staffing levels in White Plains are already below national standards for safe fire fighting operations.
Yet the City wants to balance the budget by laying off fire fighters.
These are challenging times. Your White Plains fire fighters fully understand the tremendous fiscal challenges White Plains and cities across the country face as a result of our nations economic crisis. But our proposal of $884,000 of givebacks which met the Citys monetary request without laying off fire fighters was turned down.
Now the budget plan the City is proposing endangers both citizens and fire fighters.
White Plains fire fighters risk their lives to protect life and property in this community, but without enough trained fire fighters, our ability to perform safe and effective fire and rescue services is greatly compromised.
You cannot put a price on safety a balanced budget is not worth losing homes or lives!
THESE BUDGET CUTS PUT YOUR LIVES AT RISK
Tell
Mayor Adam Bradley and the
Common Council that these cuts are UNACCEPTABLE.
We ask for you support and signatures opposing these layoffs and rehiring the public safety personnel that have sworn to protect your lives and property as residents of this city!!!
