NO ANIMAL RENDERING FOR VALLEY PROTEINS IN CURTIS BAY MARYLAND
Animal rendering produces a putrid smell which greatly effects residents both physically and mentally, and neighborhoods economically. Valley Proteins is based in Winchester, Va., Neville Island, Pa., and here in Curtis Bay, Md. at 1515-1519 Open St, Baltimore, MD 21226, and in other towns as well. The Baltimore (Curtis Bay) Valley Proteins plant suffered a fire several years ago and had to stop animal rendering. What a breath of fresh air? Now they want to obtain a new Air Quality Permit from the Maryland Department of the Environment. We do not want this to happen! We cannot bear to smell that putrid smell again. Valley Proteins has a horrible track record at their other plants too. For stories about Valley Proteins, please go to the web and put "Valley Proteins News" and see all the stories relating to their rendering plants. These types of animal rendering plants should be at least 2 - 5 miles away from the nearest residential area. We in Curtis Bay know that to be a fact. The animal rendering process will tremendously hurt our revitalization efforts in Curtis Bay. These putrid smells hurt us mentally, physically, and emotionally. We ask anyone who knows about the putrid smell animal rendering plants produce and how they hurt the communities they are in, please please sign this petition.
