A supposed animal rescue operating in California City, California was unfortunately not living up to its mission and wasn't rescuing pets at all.
Instead, the owner was hoarding dogs in her home, where she neglected them terribly until they developed severe medical issues, including infections and malnourishment.Sign the petition to ban her from running an animal rescue or ever owning or working with pets again!Animal control agencies in multiple California counties, including Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Kern, had been sending animals to the rescue until each agency became aware that something was seriously wrong with this facility. As the agencies became wary of "possible fraud," they terminated their relationships with the rescue.
That led to animal control officers investigating the facility, where their fears were confirmed.
Instead of "rescuing" pets, the owner had
locked 15 dogs in her garage, and another 19 inside her home. The bedrooms were filled with feces and urine, and the stench of animal waste filled the entire property. There was no food or water in sight.
Out of the 34 dogs, five were in such bad shape, officials had to rush them to emergency veterinary services. Veterinarians noticed
deep wounds in multiple animals, some of which had become infected and begun smelling horribly. He believed the wounds came from the owner chronically keeping them locked in cages where they would rub against the metal bars, and being tied up with ropes. Some dogs had
lost up to 40 pounds since they entered her property.
The rescue owner tried to claim that the 19 indoor dogs weren't part of her operation, but instead were "family pets," in an effort to avoid accountability. Luckily, authorities did the right thing and seized all 34 pets from her home. She has since been arrested and is awaiting trial.
Authorities must revoke her license to operate an animal rescue, and in fact should ban her from ever working with, owning, or living with animals again in the future! Sign the petition!
