Lymphedema Legislation
To add Lymphedema to the SSD handbook and to give those on medicare and all insurances coverage.
We the Lymphedema sufferers need adequate healthcare.� Many of us are on disability, awaiting disability, public assistance, or have nothing while waiting for SSD.� We have to "find" other complications due to our Lymphedema to be eligible for SSD.� We need to change, to be provided with coverage under medicaid and medicare to cover Manual Lymph Drainage therapy, pumps if applicable, and compression garments/stockings/sleeves to us for treating our lymphedema, and all circulatory diseases/conditions.
Without such coverage, our condition can and does worsen to the point of multiple hospitalizations, serious wounds and infections.� Adequate coverage for the supplies and treatments we need is cost effective.� With the proper treatment to begin with, we won't end up as bad off.� In fact with proper coverage to start with, some of us won't end up on disability.
