After 18 years of broadcasting, WETA PBS Channel 26 is planning to cancel the program EastEnders, claiming that the program's audience base is too small.
We the undersigned value EastEnders and have been supporters of WETA in order to ensure that the program remains on the air. By signing this petition, we hope to illustrate to WETA's Vice President of Television that the program is viewed by many people who believe that the program serves WETA's mission to broadcast programs of "cultural merit that recognize viewers' and listeners' intelligence, curiosity and interest in the world around them".
By allowing EastEnders to remain on WETA'a programming schedule for one hour a week, WETA will further its mission as an independent broadcaster by listening to its loyal viewers and supporters, rather than appealing to a mass audience like its commercial competition.
