Join the Chain of Giving - Help People Pull Themselves Out of Poverty

The simple act of giving lies at the heart of what it means to be human. Nowhere was this truth more obvious than at a recent Heifer International "Passing of the Gift" ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda.

On that day, 22 participants in Heifer International's Rwanda Sustainable Dairy Enterprise passed on the first offspring of the dairy cow they had received to another needy family.

These families and thousands like them around the world are pulling themselves out of poverty thanks to gifts of livestock that help them generate income in sustainable ways. These animals are "living loans," because in exchange for livestock and training, families agree to pass on one of the animal's offspring to another family in need.

As a global community, we can all help create and continue this network of hope and peace.
