Demand a change to the Dangerous Dogs Act now!
Recently i have watched a short film "Death Row Dogs", this enraged me but unsettled me even more so. The reason being is that it made me realise how flawed the "Dangerous Dogs Act" is and how it is causing the deaths of hundreds of innocent dogs. Due to the legislation the destruction of these dogs are the owners to blame as in some cases the conditions they have been kept in are so bad they cannot return to their owners, this is my problem with the legislation.
My biggest issue is: How is it acceptable in anyway for a dog - that has never injured/attacked a person, doesn't display any aggressive behaviours, and is a social dog - to be destroyed just because the "Dangerous Dogs Act" states that the dog cannot change owners? Why is it acceptable for that to happen?
When a "dangerous dog" is cleared of all dangerous qualities and are show to be no danger to anyone in any way shape or form, why can it not then be re-homed if the original owner is not suited to have the dog back? Dogs should not be put down for no reason!
If i haven't convinced you enough to sign then please watch "Death Row Dogs", where you will see an absolutely stunning 3 month old Pitbull that wouldn't harm a fly be put down due to him not being able to get a new owner.
Thank you so much for your time.
