PESTICIDE ALERT!
We have a new environmental issue in Maui about to happen, beginning July 11 and going through to 2017 that will affect the ocean, ocean creatures and coral reefs, the air, the ozone, all people residing in Kihei Villages, all neighbors, and endangered species of birds and butterflies who live in abundance in the Kihei Villages area coming up that I hope to bring to your attention. KV is planning a 6 MONTH LONG CONTINUOUS RELEASE of pesticide poison (sulfuryl fluoride) into our environment by termite tenting every one of the 60 large apartment buildings. This is a deadly toxin that will settle in the ocean for 22 YEARS and a greenhouse gas that stays in the ozone layer for 40 YEARS. It will kill all the endangered birds and butterflies, the trees and all plant life within at least a 50 ft radius of each building initially, and will blow all over the island! It is also a PROVEN cause of brain and neurological damage in humans and causes birth defects, among many other serious health problems. We are trying to get the word out to all of Maui about this extremely dangerous situation and stop it. Tenting a house here and there is WAY different than tenting a whole, HUGE condo complex and residents are scared and angry, yet KV and the HOA, Destination Maui, will NOT hear our demands for a non-toxic (and cheaper) solution, of which there are many! PLEASE join us in a fight for our lives and the life of the ocean and our aina! This is not just a huge danger to people in KV, but to all of our neighbors (and the kids in the park across the street!) precious ocean creatures and endangered species!
