As if the stakes to the 2024 election weren’t high enough already, Donald Trump’s tax cuts to the mega-wealthy are set to expire next year. This means that whoever wins control of Congress could rewrite the tax code to make the wealthy pay their fair share and lift the burden from America’s working families…or if Republicans win, you can be sure they will renew the tax cuts and blow an even bigger hole in the national deficit.

According to new estimates by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), permanently extending the expiring provisions of the Trump tax cuts would cost $4 trillion over the next 10 years, $400 billion per year — and you just know that Republicans would insist on gutting public services, federal funding, and the social safety net in order to pay for it.
