This cry for help is addressed to all those who will never turn a blind eye to animal suffering and pain.
In Kazakhstan thousands of homeless animals are being cruelly captured and slaughtered every day by the authorities! Under the excuse of “great danger from wild animals in highly populated areas “the animal controls apply inhumane and barbarian methods to eradicate this problem (more info and photo on my blog http://headpride.blogspot.com/2012/08/world-stray-animals-day-day-of-tears.html)!
We, Kazakhstan citizens, want to be heard by our government! We want Kazakhstan to have new animal shelters, humane animal quantity regulation programs and strict punishments for animal abuse. We are asking to create an animal rescue governmental program. Please, sign this petition! Thousands of people could not be ignored!
Nowadays in Republic of Kazakhstan there is no governmental animal shelters (for neither short nor long term keeping). There are few organisations that voluntarily help homeless pets: rent venues, feed, provide medical help, sterilise and seek for new owners. These organisations exist only on donations and their own resources or sponsors.
Moreover, in May 2012, the minister of agriculture Asylzhan Mamytbekov stated that government will not create a constant animal shelter.
People of Kazakhstan do not agree with such approach. We believe that government should develop a program of building shelters for homeless animals as well as providing financial support for existing ones and animals’ rehabilitation centres.
At the moment homeless animals are being trapped by special services, often using cruel methods. We believe that humane animal quantity regulation programs should be created.
In Kazakhstan animal protection legal base is presented by one Criminal Code article (No 276), which works poorly: it does not give a clear definition of animal abuse and dictates way too soft punishment for it. We believe that appropriate corrections should be made to this article and the punishment should be stricter.
Please sign the petition which would be send to the President and the Parliament of the country. Every single vote can make a difference especially if it comes from abroad. Kazakhstan positions itself as one of the largest developing countries aiming to reach the western standards and if this issue is taken on international level, we have a chance to be heard
Please re-send this email to those who will not stay indifferent.
