Forced to work for hours a day in the middle of a busy shopping mall, these horses are chained to a "real life" merry-go-round in Sichuan province in China.
The cruel attraction just opened at Shuangliu Wanda Plaza in September and costs around $6.33 per ride. The horses are forced to carry children and teens for up to 4 hours a day without a break.
Video and social media posts of the "attraction" show the horses wearing brightly colored costumes, chained to moving metal posts on the carousel that make them to walk in endless circles.
This is animal cruelty, plain and simple. Please sign the petition calling on Shuangliu Wanda Plaza and the carosal's operators to shut the attraction down and send the horses to a sanctuary.
Horses are highly social animals that prefer to live in groups with land to roam. Being kept in near isolation, like at Shuangliu Wanda Plaza, can cause extreme stress and anxiety for the animals. And forced repetitive movements can also cause joint injuries or other painful ailments.
Even the the ride's operators admit that the attraction's conditions are not ideal for the horses, posting on Twitter, "Ok, there are more exciting places for horses to be, but every pony park has the same kind of walks." and pointing the legality of ride.
This type of torturous "real-life" merry-go-round may be legal — but it's exceedingly cruel to profit off living beings like this. Sign the petition telling Shuangliu Wanda Plaza and the carousel's operators to stop this cruel attraction now!
