Demanding Inclusive Mental Health & Substance Use Services for All Incarcerated Individuals!

The Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act of 2020 was introduced to provide mental health and recovery services for incarcerated individuals reentering society. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/3312/text/pl. This policy has a great foundation and intentions; however, it excludes older adults and youth who may need these services. It ignores the potential chronic health issues and isolation that older adults may face as well as the fact that minors face the same adversity despite their age both preventing reintegration. There needs to be inclusivity of all ages to be able to benefit and access these services! We need to make sure that no one is excluded and everyone involved with the justice system can receive the help they need promoting a better functioning society!
