Thank Obama for Recognizing Syrians Fighting for Democracy

Opposition groups in Syria have been fighting to overturn the oppressive regime of Bashar al-Assad for nearly two years. They've endured attacks from their own military, hundreds of thousands of citizens have been displaced and many cities have been destroyed -- all for the cause of living free and having an active say in their government.

It may have taken awhile, but President Obama finally announced the United States would recognize the opposition government as the legitimate voice for Syria, joining Britain, France, Turkey and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Democracy is the core ideal of the United States. As a country that talks about the virtues of democracy, it's crucial that American leaders actually support the people fighting for it.

Thank President Obama for standing up for democracy and freedom and recognizing Syria's opposition forces as the country's real, legitimate government.
