We, the undersigned, call on Wigan Council to immediately reverse its decision to terminate the contract of Al and Al as Creative Directors of the Haigh Hall project.
Al and Al have been instrumental in bringing a renewed vision, passion, and hope to Haigh Hall, making it a vibrant part of the Wigan community once again. Their dedication has not only secured vital funding, such as the £20m Levelling Up Fund, but also inspired the community with their creative and inclusive approach. They have been the driving force behind many of the exciting projects at Haigh Hall, including the Amphitheatre for a tree garden, and their leadership has ensured the Major art collection found its rightful home at the Hall.
The decision to cut short their contract has left the community feeling betrayed and deeply concerned about the future of Haigh Hall. We fear that without their vision and leadership, the project will lose the connection it has built with the people of Wigan.
We urge Wigan Council to:
1. Reconsider and reverse its decision to remove Al and Al as Creative Directors.
2. Recognise the immense value Al and Al bring to the project and the community.
3. Ensure that the Haigh Hall project is completed with the continuity, passion, and vision that Al and Al have provided.
