Ensure Implementation & Enforcement of Animal Cruelty Registry in Oklahoma

Animal cruelty is against the law nationwide but more steps need to be taken to enforce those laws and protect these defenseless beings.  Oklahoma has made attempts in protecting animals but their statutes are quite broad as stated in http://www.oda.state.ok.us/forms/ogc/anc.pdf.  The laws and statutes need to be stiffer throughout the state and some stipulations seem to make it okay to inflict harm on an animal. 

The hope is that as I work to get help for animals nationwide, Oklahoma will do its part in protecting animals throughout the state by implementing and strictly enforcing an animal cruelty registry.  An animal cruelty registry would need to be similar in stature to that of other databases for child abusers and sex offenders with serious, lifetime implications.  Any person convicted of animal abuse, cruelty or abandonment of any sort needs to be listed on this registry.  To be accurate, the abuser’s information needs to be updated on a regular basis.  Furthermore, any person listed on this database should remain there for a lifetime, being banned from any future animal ownership, working with or caring for them as a means of protecting future defenseless lives.
