Tell Trump His Budget Will Injure America's Disabled.

The United States is the wealthiest country in the world, yet it is one of the stingiest when it comes to taking care of its disabled citizens. And that’s before President Trump’s budget takes effect which would take the already meager disability payments and slash them even further.

His new budget proposes $70 billion dollars worth of cuts to Social Security Disability benefits over the next ten years. These benefits are already miserably low, in some cases they don’t even cover rent or other monthly living expenses. Thus millions of people no longer able to work due to pain and injury will see their benefits cut pushing them even closer to the edge of desperation.

Our president would like to divide and conquer and convince every day Americans that these are benefits they will never need. But don’t be fooled. In fact, "there is a one-in-three chance a young person at the start of his or her career will die or qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) before reaching retirement age." The reality is you or someone you love will need SSDI at one point or another. We must to fight to protect it.

The current administration has shown their cards. Over and over again they have targeted, not protected programs that benefit America’s most vulnerable while looking out for the wealthiest among us. It is clear Trump will not protect the disabled so now it is up to us. Take action, sign and tell Trump to keep his hands of disability benefits. Tell Trump to drop this budget now.
