Imagine a #WorldwithoutElephants
What can you do to #stopthetrade ?
Call for a ban on #BloodIvory
#ShameonChina
Dear Sirs,
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of Earth and friends of Elephants, one of your country’s most iconic symbols.
We are absolutely horrified to learn that 35,000 elephants were killed in 2011 on the African continent.
Almost 3,000 were killed in Niassa reserve, one of the three last truly wild areas in southern Mozambique.
As we understand it, the law in Mozambique is very lenient with poachers.
We would urge you to do everything in your power to end the trade in Blood Ivory.
Across the world the sentiment is growing that tourists are no longer prepared to spend their money in countries which do not respect their natural environment and animals. It is the only way that we can make our voices heard, our vote for animal rights count.
Thus, we the undersigned, hereby pledge to not visit any country which does not do absolutely everything possible to end this deplorable and shameful trade in ivory.
Please bring in tougher anti-poaching legislation, and work with China who we understand is very involved in Mozambique and is the primary source of demand for ivory. Please use your natural resources as leverage to secure REAL change and protection for elephants.
Mozambique elephants are a natural resource for the tourism industry, and deserve to be treated with respect in their own right.
We will never stop campaigning until this trade ends. And we will do everything in our power to spread the word for tourists and investors to stay away from countries that do not honour Elephants and wilderness.
Thankyou and regards
