Tega Cay boasts a diverse wildlife population, including whitetail deer. In January 2024, the city's attempt to cull 160 deer caused adversity within our community and was a significant waste of taxpayer dollars, time, and resources. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) has confirmed that our deer population does not pose any biological or health concerns. Killing healthy animals is inhumane and creates division within the community.
As a Tega Cay resident, I am supportive of a No-Kill deer management program.
