As the school's student government representatives it is our job is to represent the student body. Last night one of our favorite teachers was fired for giving a student a hug and peck on the cheek after an argument that was resolved. Today we met as a school, 7th-12th grade, and held a meeting to discuss what has happened. We made a petition and currently have 46 signatures on paper and thought it would benefit us to create an online version of the petition. Christina Eanes says "I feel I was unjustly fired last night for giving a student a hug and peck on the cheek as a motherly gesture. I feel all the students are like my kids and that is what most people love about our school. This was not done with any malicious intent and the student and parent testified to the board that the student was not uncomfortable nor was this meant or taken as a sexual gesture." This teacher means the world to us and our school. We have something no other school has: we are a family and family means no one is left behind or forgotten! Please help us get our teacher back. If you have already signed the hard copy of the petition you may NOT sign again. You can only sign once. Thanks for your support. I have signed this petiton because:
- I am not in favor of the school board's decision to terminate the employment of Christina Eanes
- I do not feel, or have ever felt (in the time that I have known her) that Mrs.Eanes has acted inapporpriately or has made me feel uncomportable in any way - or - I feel/would feel comfortable having Christina Eanes teach at Northwest Academy
