Protect Northern Nevada's Spectacular Wild Places!

Northern Nevada is rich with public lands that make the region unique. But the greater Reno-Sparks area faces rapid change and growth. Now is the time to safeguard some of the region's unspoiled lands as wilderness for future generations to enjoy.

Places like Wall Canyon, Buffalo Hills, and Massacre Rim are some of the wildest lands in the county, and these precious resources lack the permanent protections they need. Outdoor enthusiasts revel in the solitude, opportunities for backcountry adventure, and breathtaking sunsets. Expansive sagebrush seas, pinyon pine, and juniper groves provide critical habitat for populations of pronghorn, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and the greater sage-grouse. The area also possesses precious cultural resources reflecting over 1,000 years of human history.

Nevada lawmakers, including Sens. Reid and Heller and Rep. Amodei, historically have worked together to pass county-based bills that benefit the economy and protect wild lands. With your help they can do it again.

Legislation for Washoe County would enhance the region's quality of life. Protecting and expanding northern Nevada's opportunities for outdoor recreation would attract and retain students, employees, and businesses while boosting tourism, creating healthier communities, and diversifying an economy that can no longer afford to rely on the casino industry alone.
