Thousands of dogs are condemned to death! Help them live

In Romania, thousands of abandoned dogs are collected in public and private shelters. Despite the fact that many of these dogs are healthy, loving, and simply unfortunate not to have found a family, they are condemned to death through euthanasia because they haven’t been adopted within a short time. Euthanasia of healthy dogs is a common practice in shelters across the country, even when there are alternative solutions. These animals did not ask to end up on the streets, yet they are being condemned simply because they were not lucky enough to find a home sooner.

This is a heartbreaking reality for tens of thousands of dogs that suffer in silence, and this practice must be stopped immediately.

It is crucial that we change the laws and policies regarding the treatment of abandoned dogs in shelters. Here’s what we demand strongly:

Immediate cessation of euthanasia for healthy dogs in shelters, regardless of how long they have been there. Every dog deserves a chance at life and should not be condemned because they weren’t adopted within a short time frame.
Creation of proper shelters that offer dogs care, food, medical treatment, and a safe, healthy environment until they are adopted.

Promotion of dog adoption from shelters through awareness campaigns encouraging the adoption of abandoned animals.

Support for organizations and NGOs working for the rescue and protection of dogs. Collaboration with these organizations is essential to find sustainable solutions.
Punishment for those who mistreat or abuse dogs, with severe penalties, to prevent any form of cruelty toward animals.

It’s time for us to show compassion and responsibility for the animals who cannot speak for themselves but deserve to be protected and loved. We cannot continue to ignore their suffering. The time for change is now!
