The Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2025
The Bill seeks to strengthen our Constitutional Democracy, the Rule of Law and public governance and accountability by aligning the roles and functions of all public organs at the National and Regional levels of government in a manner that would entrench the effective administration of our governance structure and culture in public institutions. In addition, the Bill proposes to ensure that accountability of public officers and prudent transparent application of resources is the fundamental principle in carrying out of National and Regional functions as set out under the Fourth Schedule to the Bill.
The Bill seeks to entrench the democratic values and principles gained post Constitution of Kenya, 2010, by enhancing and expanding the role of direct and participatory democracy, by affirming the people's sovereignty, and empowering citizens to actively take part in the decision-making process in concert with the political leadership.
The Bill is a testament to the people's commitment to ensuring that the political leadership remains accountable and responsive to the will of the people, ultimately fostering a stronger and more inclusive representative democratic space.
