In transcripts of the 20 top political podcasts reviewed by researchers at the Brookings Institution, half of the episodes released between the election and January 6th attack shared election misinformation. The most flagged podcaster? Steve Bannon, who has already been removed from Spotify for talking about beheading federal officials.
On November 3rd 2020, two months before the attempted insurrection, Bannon asked on his podcast "you know why they're going to steal this election?" He continued, "because they don't think you're going to do anything about it."
Add your name to tell Apple and Google to deplatform Steve Bannon!
Bannon ediscussed the planned attack on air the day before. He's even been held in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the January 6th committee. This is not someone who should have access to any sort of viewership, and especially not have his content be easily accessed through major streaming services.
We have seen what happens when violent conspiracy theorists are allowed the space to aggressively push their messaging – it results in racism, violence, and uprising.
