A former Fairfield, Connecticut town official has been torturing and maiming the cats and dogs belonging to his romantic partners for years. Innocent, defenseless animals are often used as pawns in situations of domestic abuse, and these incidents clearly fit the bill. He must be banned from ever being in possession of or alone with animals ever again! His very first victims that we know of were Thor and Charlie, sweet 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles spaniels owned by his fiancee at the time.
Raymond poured boiling water on Thor until almost 10% of his body was covered in burns, and broke many of Charlie's ribs. Then there was Pearl, a kitty who was owned by Raymond's then girlfriend and her roommate.
Pearl was left alone with Raymond, and ended up with horrific chemical burns. Her belly was burned all the way down to the muscle and her tail was so far gone it had to be removed. The cost of the care was so great that Pearl's owner had to surrender her to the animal hospital. Can you imagine watching your beloved cat go through so much pain and torture, just to lose her in the end because you can't afford the vet bills?
Then, Raymond moved onto Gem, his girlfriend's other cat. During a domestic violence incident, he beat Gem to death. And now, because Raymond hasn't been stopped, he is under arrest for chemically burning yet another girlfriend's cat.
When will this end? Domestic abusers often threaten, hurt, or kill animals as a form of control over their human victims. If this man has tortured and murdered this many animals, how many more is he capable of harming?
And how long until his victims are human? We must speak up. For Thor, Charlie, Pearl, Gem, his most recent cat victim, and all his poor partners who have seen their pets so brutally treated.
