President-elect Donald Trump: Acknowledge the Threat of Climate Change and Commit to Action!

The election of Donald Trump to the United States Presidency presents an unprecedented level of threat to the future of our planet. “A Trump presidency might be game over for the climate. It might make it impossible to stabilize planetary warming below dangerous levels,” prominent climate researcher Michael Mann reported to the Guardian.
Scientists agree that Trump’s plans for our environment are nothing short of catastrophic. Trump has called climate change a “bullshit” Chinese-invented hoax. As president, he has promised to dramatically increase production of fossil fuels, repeal regulations on power plants, and withdraw the United States from the historic Paris Accord. Trump has encouraged unrestricted drilling, fracking, and mining on our public lands, and has renewed plans to construct the dangerous Keystone Pipeline.
If Trump follows through on his promises, and if other nations do not take actions to offset increased U.S. emissions, scientists believe that the earth could potentially spiral into unstoppable, extreme temperatures. The results of this environmental disaster would likely include food insecurity, conflict among nations, and the displacement of tens of millions of people from their homes as a result of rising sea levels. Innocent wildlife would suffer and many species would likely face extinction.
I am terrified by the potential devastation that Trump’s agenda presents to all forms of life on this planet, and I know that millions of other people share this fear. We will do everything possible to protect our Earth from Trump’s destructive plans, and he has no choice but to completely change his stance on climate policy if he is going to be a President for all Americans. Please sign this petition urging President-elect Donald Trump to acknowledge the reality of climate change and commit to a viable plan of action.
Dear President-elect Trump,
I completely disapprove of your stance on climate change and policy that will contribute to the destruction of our planet.
I demand that you do not cut funding for climate research, that you support and invest in renewable energies instead of coal, oil and natural gas, that you maintain or increase strict regulations on emissions from power plants, and that you keep the pledges made by the United States in the international Paris Accord. Unrestricted drilling, fracking, and mining on our public lands, as well as the resurrection of the dangerous Keystone Pipeline, must be prohibited.

You have recently stated that you want to unite all Americans under your leadership. I believe that there is no possibility of this happening unless you completely changes stance on climate policy. I am terrified by the potential devastation that your agenda presents to all forms of life on this planet. I urge you to acknowledge the reality of climate change and commit to a viable plan of action to protect all citizens of the Earth.
