Puerto Rico Municipality Of Comerio is in desperate need of a Humane Animal Shelter And Enforcement of Animal Welfare Laws
We the undersigned urge the government of Puerto Rico to comply with Municipality Laws in regard to The Animal Welfare Act Of 2004,in which it is stated that "Local government shall implement humane regulations concerning overpopulation of animals".[sec4-d6] Establish proper means for disposal of unwanted animals,including the creation of Animal Shelters, the creation of Sanctuaries,or WHERE NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE EXISTS, Humane euthanasia.[sec4-d8] Establish and fund control agencies and animal cruelty investigators[sec4-d9] Law requires each Municipality of Puerto Rico to provide and manage a Humane Animal Shelter, Section 1-b of The Animal Welfare Act states "All branches of government shall endeavor to implement the spirit of this law in assuring the best possible life for animals within our communities' The Municipality of Comerio,Located in the center-eastern region of Puerto Rico,is in urgent need of a Humane Animal Shelter,as well as enforcement of Animal Protection laws.There is a growing overpopulation problem of dogs in Comerio,not only are many dogs abandoned on the streets of Comerio,many are born there. Countless numbers of these innocent animals are poisoned by cruel and indifferent citizens as a solution to animal control. The Governments own indifference to Puerto Ricos lack of concern for animal welfare is a unacceptable. We urge not only Comerios Municipal Government Representative,Hon.Jose A Santiago,but also Anibal Acevedo Vila,the Govenor of Puerto Rico, and Luis Furtuno,the United States Representative of Puerto Rico to take needed action and comply with the structured laws that are in place and provide the Municipality of Comerio,Puerto Rico with a much needed Humane Animal Shelter,which can provide services,resources and education in regard to Animal Welfare,as well as establish enforcement of Animal Protection laws Within the Municipality of comerio, Puerto Rico.
