After bombshell reports revealed that Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have gone on lavish vacations paid for by billionaire GOP donors, the Supreme Court has decided to adopt a new code of ethics.
But this "new" code doesn't really have any new guidelines, and it doesn't have any clear process to enforce the code. Bottom line: the Supreme Court is paying lip service and we need Congress to enforce an actual code of ethics.
Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee have been pushing for a set of ethical standards for the Supreme Court, "which would allow for independent review of recusal decisions and more." We need Congress to enforce a code of ethics, not just to trust the Supreme Court to govern themselves.
Add your name: The Supreme Court's ethics code doesn't go far enough -- Congress needs to enforce a real one!
