We, the undersigned, are sad to note that Malaysia's REVISED ANIMALS ACT 1953, last revised in 2006, still allows the consumption of dogs and cats and the liable fine for animal abuse remains at RM200 or imprisonment for a term of 6 months, or both.
Please amend Malaysia's REVISED ANIMALS ACT 1953 to:
1. Increase in liable fine of RM 200 to a minimum of RM 10,000.
2. Increase in liable jail term of 6 months to a maximum of 2 years.
3. Introduce compulsory community service to be carried out at
animal shelters for a minimum of four hours per day during jail
term.
4. Ban the consumption of dogs and cats.
