According to the Human Society, more than 100,000 American horses are savagely treated and then brutally slaughtered. This meat is then shipped overseas for human consumption. Many of these horses are young and healthy, so they could have led a good life if protected and kept in a loving home. Horses are not here for human consumption and therefore their slaughter is inhumane. There should be stricter regulations placed on the transport and slaughtering of horses. Until more severe bans are put in place to prohibit horse meat from being shipped from the U.S. to areas like Mexico or Canada, many horses will be at this risk.
