Republican representative and Trump fanatic Elise Stefanik referred to the people who are being sentenced to prison for attacking our Capitol on Jan 6, 2021 as "hostages." Are you kidding me?!
The deadly insurrection at the Capitol was one of the darkest days in our nation's history and a direct attack on our democracy. The violent mob that stormed the gates, attacked police officers, destroyed and vandalized property and threatened members of Congress are rightfully being held accountable now. Over 1,200 insurrectionists have been criminally charged for their actions on Jan 6, 890 of them have been found guilty of federal crimes, and more than half of those have been sentenced to prison time.
