After having gotten away with it for two years, Kellyanne Conway is finally being held to account for her repeated Hatch Act violations as Democrats in Congress are now pushing to have her fired.
The Hatch Act is a 1939 law that prohibits employees of the executive branch, except the president and the vice president and certain other designated officials, from engaging in some forms of political activity, like affecting elections or going about its activities in a partisan manner. And that includes Kellyanne Conway "disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media."
Despite her flagrant violations during her tenure as senior adviser to the president, Conway has insisted that she's done nothing wrong. And yet that hasn't stopped the White House's Office of Special Counsel from recommending that she lose her position in the White House. What's worse for Conway is that Henry Kerner, chief of the White House's Office of Special Counsel, was appointed by Trump. And yet, he is still insistent upon the fact that Conway should be fired over her repeated Hatch Act violations.
We, the undersigned, demand that Kellyanne Conway finally be held accountable for repeatedly defying the law and making a mockery out of Democratic at conducting oversight. This administration's officials may think that they are above the law, but they are going to learn very quickly that the days of complete lawlessness are now over.
