We the undersigned urge Evanston/Skokie School District 65 to postpone its decision to change the start and dismissal times for Lincoln, Lincolnwood, and Oakton schools beginning in September 2008.
While we fully support the District's goals of consistency and equity in professional development for teachers, we believe that the school schedule should also be responsive to the needs of students and their families. Therefore, we ask that this matter be brought before the D65 School Board so that there can be a thorough public discussion of its impact and an opportunity for parents, guardians and other concerned community members to share their views and suggestions.
