It's no secret that our democracy is in trouble. But ranked choice voting is a simple improvement that puts power back in the hands of voters. It saves time and money on elections, empowers diverse candidates, and gives voters more choices.
Several cities and counties in Oregon have already passed ranked choice voting for their local offices. Now is the time to bring it statewide!
Here's how it works. Oregonians rank candidates in order of preference: first choice, second choice, third choice, and so on. If a candidate receives more than 50%, they win – like in any other election. If not, the candidate with the fewest votes is defeated and ballots are instantly counted for a voter's next choice until there's a majority winner.
