Fox hunting, the cruel "sport" that involves trained dogs chasing and tearing apart defenseless foxes while humans follow behind on horses, has justifiably been illegal in the United Kingdom since 2004.
Alas, the newly appointed Environment Secretary, who referred to foxes as "vermin," has come out in favor of striking down the hunting ban. “I would absolutely commit to holding a vote to repeal the hunting ban,” Leadsom said recently. “It has not proven to be in the interests of animal welfare whatsoever.”
Sounds like it's in the interest of the foxes' welfare, though! Given that the public is overwhelmingly opposed to reinstating hunting, we ask Leadsom to drop this issue altogether. The people of the UK want to put this cruel tradition behind them, not revive it.
