Vote "No" on the DoD Starbase Program

DoD Starbase is a program for fifth grade students with two objectives

(1) get our children excited about Science and Technology.
(2) encourage them toward a future in military service. 

Each year several Portland Public Schools opt into this program where fifth grade students are taken to a military base (Jackson Amory) and are instructed in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), but at the end of the program they get 1.5hrs of career counseling that highlights the military career path.  This is recruitment of ten-year-old children and it should stop.  Please let the Portland Public School Board know your opinion by signing this petition.  Thanks!
