Demand justice for street dogs which were killed and paraded in Kerala, India

  • by: Jaya Bala
  • recipient: Maneka Gandhi, Environment Minister, Government of India
Because some street dogs bit school children / old ladies - politicians, media and business men have started a campaign to kill them. It is illegal as per indian laws to kill a street dog. Dogs do not have a place to go. They are pelted with stones whenever they are seen. This has created aggression in some of them. Nowhere else in India are street dogs treated so badly. And the state of Kerala calls itself God's own country. A tourist boycot of Kerala state of India (a major tourist attraction) in protest to the deliberate and unnecessary illtreatment of street dogs is suggested.
