Today I create the world my children will live in.
Today WE are creating our children's future. While our people and lands are being poisoned and our water supplies dwindle, Enbridge and others seek to divide our people by "donating" large sums of money to our peoples' events, such as pow-wows and conferences.
WE MUST NOT LET THEM DIVIDE US!!
We need to think of our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We need to think of their future. If we let this destruction continue we will be taking away their right to live. to decide, to love, to learn.
You may not agree with shutting down the tar sands and you may not want your children to become political, social or environmental activists, but if we don't stop this evil, your children won't have the opportunities that you work to give them or the freedom to decide for themselves. The tar sands are destroying our planet. Tar sands oil is the dirtiest, most toxic form of energy in the world.
STOP TAKING MONEY FROM TAR SANDS COMPANY'S!
Let us work together to raise whatever funds it is that they donate, be it for cultural events or political purposes, let us find a way to accomplish our goals together and take tar sands companies out of the picture!
Let us stand behind the BC and Alberta community's who are fighting right now, everyday, against this evil!
As soon as we get enough signatures I will be taking this petition to every Aboriginal Organization that I can and I will be mailing it to the rest. I will personally deliver this petition to National Chief Shawn Atleo at the Assembly of First Nations at a Rally to end tar sands corporate sponsorships.

In signing this petition we, as your fellow children of Mama Aki respectfully and gravely urge you to publicly and agressively condemn the practice by aboriginal organizations of accepting sponsorship, funding, incentives, honorariums, or any type of gift from companies that profit or support the on going destruction created by the Tar Sands, also known as the canadian oil sands.
Many First Nations are not aware of the poison that the people along the Athabasca face and the death of land around it. We need to make all people aware and stand united with those in the west that fight for our land, our water and our future.
We respectfully and humbly petition you to make a public statement condemning the tar sands, its affiliates and any finances that come from it and declaring The First Peoples of the North Lands of Turtle Island as united against the destructive, ravaging consumption of our natural resources.
We urge you to use the Assembly of First Nations as the leading opposition to the abomination that is canada's tar sands.
